A Positive ER Experience
Read about Lisa Cooper (mom) and Johnathan Cooper (son) experience at our emergency hospital.
What brought you to CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital?
When I suspected that my son broke his arm, I knew we could not go to an Urgent Care facility. A friend recommended CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital. Why did you choose CHRISTUS?
I have been to CHRISTUS facilities in the past and prefer the atmosphere there. I received excellent medical care by physicians and staff who were personable and attentive. What was your experience like at CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital?
Our experience was nothing but positive. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in the best hands. Were you scared to come because this was during the COVID-19 pandemic? If so, how did our staff calm your fear?
I wasn't sure what to expect because we were going to an emergency facility during a pandemic. My son was in a great deal of pain, and I was concerned about the type of care we would receive. I wanted every precaution to be taken to keep us safe, but I also wanted my son to be treated with as much personal care as possible. The staff at CHRISTUS provided both and made it look effortless--as though treating patients in the middle of a health scare came naturally to them. We received masks right away and went immediately to a room. The physician and RN who took care of us readily answered our questions, treated my son's comfort as a priority, and made sure we had everything we needed (including prescriptions and follow up instructions with a specialist) before we left. What would you say to someone who is hesitant to go to the ER because of the pandemic?
I would tell anyone to go to the CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital. Our health is so important, particularly when we can be made more vulnerable by not taking care of ourselves. In an emergency, fear can be compounded by uncertainty--the uncertainty of our condition on top of not knowing what we may be exposed to in a hospital setting. All of my fears left the moment we walked in that door. I trusted the staff to give my son all of the care he needed while keeping us safe. They did just that. How was your experience at CHRISTUS different than your experience at other facilities in the past (if this applies)?
I have been very fortunate in that my visits to other facilities have been positive, and the staff cordial and accommodating. However, the immaculate facility, the knowledgeable and friendly staff, and the quality of care made our experience at CHRISTUS far superior to anywhere else. Was there anyone special that helped you during your visit? Did anyone go above and beyond that you want to recognize?
Dr. Randy Davis and the RN, Stephen, who took care of us were excellent. How was Jonathan feeling during the experience? How did the staff help calm his fears?
He was afraid and in pain when we came in. Immediately, the RN came in, gave him something for the pain, and engaged him in conversation. Within fifteen minutes, Jonathan was calm and the pain subsiding. How is he doing today?
He is great! We have a follow up appointment with our specialist, and he is eager to be able to play basketball with his brother in the driveway again soon.Anything else you want to add?
I want to say thank you to the physicians and staff at CHRISTUS. Your commitment to serving us is evident in everything you do. The time and attention you give to a child with a broken arm in the midst of a crisis made us feel like the whole world slowed down for us. The smiles you offer behind the masks, even when you are tired, do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. My son and I are especially grateful for you!
