How to Get Your TRICARE Prime Benefit

US Family Health Plan (USFHP) isn't a different plan from TRICARE Prime — it's TRICARE Prime, delivered through CHRISTUS Health's civilian network instead of a military treatment facility. Here's how the options compare:

  • TRICARE Prime (standard): The same TRICARE Prime benefit, delivered through a military treatment facility or the TRICARE East Region network; referrals required for most specialty care.
  • TRICARE Prime via USFHP (CHRISTUS): The same TRICARE Prime benefit, delivered through CHRISTUS's civilian network of 2,000+ local doctors and hospitals — plus dental, vision, and hearing discounts not included in standard TRICARE Prime. CHRISTUS is the only USFHP provider serving Texas and Louisiana.
  • TRICARE Select: A different TRICARE plan altogether — more provider flexibility, but higher annual deductibles and out-of-pocket costs.

Still deciding how to use your TRICARE Prime benefit? Call us at 1-469-599-7259 or complete the contact form and a representative can help.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does US Family Health Plan cost?

Active-duty family members pay no enrollment fee and no out-of-pocket cost for in-network care. Military retirees and their families pay the same TRICARE Prime enrollment fees and copayments as standard TRICARE Prime.

Do I have a deductible with USFHP?

Active-duty families have a $0 deductible for in-network care. All other TRICARE Prime cost-sharing rules apply to retirees and their dependents.

How much are prescription copays in 2026?

As of January 1, 2026, generic formulary prescriptions are $16 for up to a 30-day supply at network pharmacies ($14 for a 90-day supply through VytlOne). See the full cost table below for brand-name and non-formulary pricing.

What if I need care outside the network?

Non-network pharmacy purchases are subject to a 50% cost share after the point-of-service deductible. Staying in-network keeps your costs lowest for medical care as well.
