CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic’s board-certified primary care specialist Shirley Buntoro, D.O., is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to her patients. Dr. Buntoro specializes in Family Medicine, focusing on preventive medicine and managing chronic diseases.
Dr. Buntoro is passionate about providing quality healthcare to rural communities. She has extensive research experience, having worked as a graduate research intern at the University of Texas Southwestern – Dallas Heart Study and as a Transitions Summer Research Experience (TSER) student at The University of North Texas – Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She has also published two papers in peer-reviewed journals, one on the initial positive and negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on rural medical providers and the other on the perceived usefulness of telehealth among rural medical providers.
In addition to her research experience, Dr. Buntoro is a member of several medical associations, including the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP). When not in the clinic, Dr. Buntoro enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, and binge-watching Hallmark movies! Dr. Buntoro is excited to provide patient-centered care to all of her patients through collaborative efforts to improve their overall well-being.
