Meet Ahmed Mahmood, MD

Dr. Tashfeen Mahmood MD, FCCP, CHCQM-PHYADV received his medical degree from King Edward Medical University, Pakistan in 2006. He did his Internal Medicine residency at Texas Tech University, Amarillo, TX followed by fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Texas Tech University Lubbock, TX and Sleep Medicine fellowship at Oklahoma University, OKC, OK. Dr. Mahmood is board certified by ABIM in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep Medicine and by NBE in Critical Care Echocardiography. He is a diplomat in Health Care Quality and Management with a Physician Advisor sub-specialty by American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP). Dr. Mahmood has served at different panels at ABIM for Critical Care and Sleep Medicine over last several years. He has been involved in many research projects and is currently the principal investigator for an NIH funded COVID-19 study. Before joining Ochsner in 2020, he served as assistant professor of medicine at University of Texas Northeast, Tyler, TX. Dr. Mahmood has special clinical interests in invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, critical care echocardiography, early lung cancer detection, chronic lung diseases and complex sleep related disorders. Besides clinical medicine, his focus is on health care quality management and patient safety. Dr. Mahmood has been practicing medicine since 2012. He is happily married with three beautiful children. He loves spending time with his family, playing tennis, traveling and exploring unique restaurants.
