Meet Sarah Wheeler, CNM
Sarah Wheeler, MSN, CNM, CLC, joined the CHRISTUS Children's Center for Midwifery and Women's Health in 2023. After completing her bachelor's degree in communications, she worked as a doula until personal experience with midwifery care influenced her to pursue a new path. She went on to obtain her bachelor's degree in nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing - Midwifery from Yale University in 2011. Sarah worked in a high-volume midwifery practice at Yale New Haven Hospital training residents and midwifery students in physiologic birth for women with both high- and low-risk pregnancies. She transitioned to private practice when she moved to San Antonio in 2020.
Through the years, she has focused on integrating the midwifery model into the care of women across the lifespan and has additional certifications in lactation and pre- and postnatal fitness.
Sarah grew up in Nairobi, Kenya, and before finding a career in health care, focused on theater and creative writing. She enjoys exploring new places around San Antonio, spending time with her husband and four children, and traveling to visit her extended family.
